Watkins has always given us great service and Nick E is amazing. He’s always personable, polite, knowledgeable, and efficient. He gets right to work and explains everything in ways I can understand. Can’t say enough positive things about him and Watkins.

Thank you, thank you. Nick was quick to get here and very knowledgeable in what he was doing. Being without heat since Friday and being tossed with no help from Stevenson heating and no one to call in fixing oil furnaces I was loosing all hope. Being told multiple lies from Stevenson. I was reassured through Nick that there was hope through his knowledge of my furnace and its quality. This was my first time using Watkins. One I will trust and use for futures to come. Watkins will be highly recommended by me to any one in need of heating and air repair, thanks to Nick. THANK YOU AGAIN.

Although just scheduled maintenance was performed today, Brian was professional and personable. He was thorough in explaining all do the intricate details to me about the upcoming need to replace my heat pump. I highly recommend!

Nick is an absolute rockstar! He's very knowledgeable, personable and he answered every question as well as addressed all my concerns. From this day forward, Watkins will be the heating and cooling company I will contact when needed and I'll share this with my family and friends.

I have mixed feelings about Watkins. During a recent cold spell, we woke up one day to some alarm codes that our heat pump wasn't working and that our emergency (electric) heat didn't kick on. Of all the places, Watkins was the only one that still had availability for same day service, for a $179.99 trip charge in addition to whatever cost was necessary to fix the issue. To Watkins's credit, they sent someone out pretty quickly. The HVAC technician was friendly and quickly determined what was causing the heat pump to not kick on. It was fixed in about 30 minutes or so. The same thing happened to our heat pump a couple of years ago and a different HVAC company came out and fixed it for $100. However, trying to figure out what was causing the electric heat to not kick on took a lot longer. After a lengthy diagnostic process, he decided that the error code was simply a ghost that needed to be reset. Given that they are a Trane comfort specialist, I believed that they were right. After several long restart process, the code went away. I was learning quite a bit about our system during the time as well. However, when he reconfigured our system, he saw that our system automatically only detected one stage heating and simply said that that's the way it's supposed to be, even though I distinctly remember that it's supposed to be three-stage heating. Moreover, there was an hourly charge in addition to the $179.99 trip charge. The final total came to be $540. Based on their hourly rate, if we simply stopped after the technician fixed the heat pump, total would've been maybe around $250. The other $250 was spent on the electric heat. If the problem was fully resolved, then I'd consider the $500 well-spent. However, a few days later during another cold spell, the same error code came back as electric heat failed to start again. This time, I contacted a different HVAC company that is not even certified to work on Trane systems. The technician came (no trip charge for diagnostics) and literally spent 3 hours reading the manual while going through our air handler component by component. Finally, he used his voltmeter and figured out that the communications boards were not "talking" to each other. He gave me a $599, all-inclusive quote (parts were still under warranty) to replace each comm board one by one. Days later, parts arrived, and they replaced two out of the three comm boards. When we reconfigured the system again, the system now detects three stages of heating again. Clearly, the Watkins technician did not know how the system was designed to work. I hate to leave mediocre reviews for family businesses, but while I appreciated how responsive Watkins was, their expensive hourly service charge coupled with blaming a ghost error code for non-functional communications boards compels me to share my experience.
